Hip # 202 CAME OUT RUNNING (LA)

Chestnut colt foaled January 29, 2023

(Bobby’s Wicked One x Ebony Bay, by Violence)

  • A colt from the first crop of Grade 3 winner BOBBY’S WICKED ONE, a son of champion sprinter and top sire SPEIGHTSTOWN.

  • SPEIGHTSTOWN has sired 4 champions and 52 graded stakes winners, including the top sire MUNNINGS and the promising young stallion CHARLATAN.

  • First foals to race this year include SMOKEN WICKED, 2nd in the Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs, and – since the catalogue - 3rd in the Grade 2 Saratoga Special at Saratoga on August 10th; he also won first time out at Evangeline Downs by 7 ½ lengths for trainer Dallas Stewart.

  • Out of a daughter of VIOLENCE, sire of 2022 American champion 2yo colt FORTE (7 wins, $3,029,830) and a son of leading sire Medaglia d’Oro.

  • First foal out of a dam who demolished her rivals in her first win at Ellis Park, beating the runner up by 4 ½ and the third-place horse by 15 ¾ lengths.

  • Second dam is by Grade 1 winner and two-time leading sire SMART STRIKE (sire of super sire CURLIN), and broodmare sire of Kentucky Derby winners Mine That Bird and Rich Strike); she has produced 5 winners to date.

  • Third dam (by Storm Cat) is a full sister to the granddam of KLIMT, who scored a 4 ¼ length win in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity at 2.

  • Fourth dam TENNIS LADY fetched $800,000 at the Keeneland November sale while in foal with this colt’s third dam. She won or placed in 17 of 27 starts, including the Grade 3 Martha Washington Stakes.

  • His fifth dam is the Grade 1 winner FARA’S TEAM, who also fetched a high price as a broodmare, bringing a bid of $700,000 in foal to Broad Brush.

  • This colt has a 3 x 4 cross of the great racehorse and stallion GONE WEST, the sire of Speightstown, as well as a 4 x 4 of leading sires STORM CAT and MR. PROSPECTOR (in whom he also has an additional 5th generation cross).
